Description
Glutamate,
an excitatory neurotransmitter,
is a cofactor for the inhibitory
molecule GABA and must be
strictly moderated for optimal
function of the central nervous
system. Mutations found in the
GAD gene, responsible for producing
GABA, may signify a relationship
to glutamate levels.
